Outreaches

Core Program

Outreaches

We reach out to communities across the country, focusing on pregnant women to raise awareness about prematurity and the prevention of preterm birth. We also provide Mama Kits to support safe and clean deliveries. In addition, we distribute diapers to help meet the essential needs of newborns and mothers after births.

Outreaches involve engaging with different communities across the country, including regions in western Uganda. Our primary focus is reaching pregnant women to raise awareness about prematurity, the risks associated with preterm birth, and practical ways to prevent it. We also educate mothers on how to care for preterm babies, given the high rates of premature births.

During these outreaches, expecting mothers are provided with Mama Kits. A Mama Kit typically includes essential delivery items such as sterile gloves, a plastic sheet, cotton wool, gauze, a cord clamp or thread for umbilical cord care, soap, a razor blade, and sanitary pads. These items are important because they support a clean, safe, and hygienic delivery, helping to reduce the risk of infections for both the mother and the newborn. In many cases, mothers are required to come with these basic supplies to health facilities, and without them, access to delivery services can be delayed or limited. By providing Mama Kits, we help ensure that mothers are prepared and able to deliver safely and with dignity.

We also distribute baby blankets and diapers to support newborn care after birth, ensuring warmth, comfort, and hygiene during the critical early days of life. Through these outreaches, we connect with many mothers, support their journey into motherhood, and help welcome their babies with dignity, safety, and care.
